Con Campbell

Con Campbell was born in Gortin Bush, County Tyrone. As a young boy he and his family moved to Belfast during the troubles. His early work reflected these violent images with a childlike sensitivity.

However, his rural upbringing and love of nature and animals has manifested itself in a perceptive collection of studies.

Con has studied animal physiology throughout Ireland. This study coupled with acute observation and real feelings and empathy for the subject has created a wonderful and eclectic body of work.

Con’s first major work “Arkle and Pat Taffe” was displayed in the Ulster Museum in 1972 and is now in the National Collection, since then his work has proved popular with private collectors and galleries alike.
