Patrick Murphy from humble beginnings and born into a rural family Patrick Murphy is a self-taught artist, who comes from a fine tradition of Irish landscape painters.

He paints a landscape which is unapologetically sentimental and as he remembers his childhood.

These are images from a time when life was simple and the inhabited cottages and colourful characters of Ireland where in abundance.

Patrick Murphy’s paintings are treasures, carrying on a tradition of painters like Marky Robinson who painted with a fluidity and instinct, and were neither restricted or fussy, but used a mass of effective colour.

Patrick has a gentleness of spirit and humility which is embedded in every brush stroke.
